TaeKwonDo is a Korean Martial Art, which translates to the "Art of Hand and Foot". Besides being an effective system for self-defense, TaeKwonDo provides an excellent physical fitness activity including aerobic, flexibility and strength training using all the muscle groups. Through training in TaeKwonDo, the student learns self-discipline, respect, courtesy, perseverance, eye-hand coordination and balance. These skills carry over to enhance other sports and everyday activities. Students will learn TaeKwonDo punches, blocks, kicks, forms (a series of techniques), one-step sparring, free sparring and, at advanced ranks, board breaking.
JuJitsu is the "gentle art" of self defense. Students practice Jujitsu controlling techniques, joint manipulation, throws and pressure points. By using these techniques, an attacker’s strength is used against themselves.
Our ranking system utilizes ten levels before Black Belt. Using this system the student has the physical, "new belt", and mental, "self-esteem" rewards of receiving their promotion to the next rank. During class, stripes are awarded for the demonstration of techniques learned.
